Sapphire Dome Processing
Sapphire is a hard and brittle material with a Mohs hardness of 9, second only to diamond, and is a difficult material. Single crystal sapphire has excellent physical properties, optical properties and chemical properties, with high strength, high thermal conductivity and high optical transmittance, so, it is widely used in semiconductor, aerospace, military and other fields. For example, GaN-based LED substrates, shipboard, airborne, satellite infrared window materials, sapphire lasers, sapphire fairings, etc.
The sapphire dome is used in the harsh environment of high temperature and high pressure. The processing quality of the dome will affect its physical and optical properties. At present, using traditional machine tools to grind and process sapphire ball covers is prone to processing defects such as chipping, crushing, and cracking, and the traditional grinding method has a long processing cycle, high cost, high scrap rate, and low material utilization.
CHANGHUI OPTICS specializes in the production of optical domes. According to the customer's design, we provide sapphire domes, fused silica domes, optical glass domes, and infrared silicon domes. The hemispherical dome with a maximum diameter of 300mm can be processed.
For optical domes with a diameter of less than 100mm, CHANGHUI OPTICS can produce hemisphere or super hemisphere 1-2mm optical dome, which can reach full thickness ± 0.02mm. Surface finish is better than 40-20.
